WoodSmithe cards

Over a year ago I was asked to emboss on wood. My first thought was absolutely not, but in theory I suppose paper and wood come from the same place. A few months ago the opportunity came up again, and at the time I was letterpress imprinting some coasters and thought wood couldn’t be much thicker, so we gave it a try. Well, lots of tries. First black ink letterpress, then white ink and inkless/blind letterpress. Later we had a pressman give it a try with foil stamping, and although it took some time and thought configuring his press to handle the stock, the black foil on black wood looked and felt amazing. They absolutely captured their brand and still kept this piece stunningly simple.
